How is waste concrete recycled?
Waste concrete is usually sorted before being fed through concrete crushing equipment, which breaks larger pieces down into smaller material. Any reinforcing steel or other unwanted material can be separated during processing. The crushed concrete is then screened into different sizes, producing recycled materials that can be used for driveways, drainage, backfill, roads, pathways and slab preparation.
What can recycled concrete be used for?
Recycled concrete has plenty of uses across construction and landscaping. Depending on its size and specification, it can be used for driveways, roadbase, pathways, underneath slabs, drainage, retaining wall backfill and temporary access areas. Recycled aggregates can also offer an alternative to conventional roadbase, crusher dust and blue metal products for suitable projects.
Can dirty concrete still be recycled?
Concrete with dirt or other contamination may still be suitable for recycling, but it generally requires more sorting and processing than clean concrete. The amount and type of contamination can affect how the material is handled and what it can ultimately be turned into. Keeping concrete as clean as possible makes the recycling process more straightforward.

Once it arrives, we sort and process suitable material through our concrete crushing operation. Instead of treating it as the end of the line, we turn that concrete into useful materials that can head straight back into construction, civil and landscaping projects.
Our facility is set up for commercial tipper trucks rather than trailers or public drop-offs. If you’re clearing waste from a home or smaller project, our skip bin service is the better fit.

Once we’ve processed suitable waste concrete, it comes back to life as a range of useful recycled products. Whether you need a solid base, drainage material or something for backfill, there’s an option to suit plenty of jobs.
- Enviro Roadbase – 2.5 CBR45
Perfect for driveways, under slabs, pathways and roads. It’s a cheaper alternative to conventional roadbase, and test results are available. - Enviro Dust – 7mm minus
A handy option for slab preparation and backfill. It’s a cheaper alternative to conventional crusher dust, with test results available. - 10mm Recycled Aggregate
Great for drainage, retaining wall backfill and decorative stone applications. It’s a cheaper alternative to blue metal for suitable projects. - 20–40mm Recycled Aggregate
Well suited to drainage, driveways, builders’ temporary driveways and retaining wall backfill. It’s a cheaper alternative to comparable blue metal products. - 40–80mm Recycled Aggregate
A larger recycled aggregate that works well for builders’ temporary driveways and septic tank trench areas for plumbers. It’s a cheaper alternative to blue metal for suitable applications.

What Does Concrete Tipping Cost?
Not all waste concrete takes the same amount of work to process, so our tipping rates depend on what’s in the load. Clean concrete is the simplest to recycle, while steel, reinforcing mesh, excess dirt and other contamination require extra processing.
Our current concrete tipping rates are:
- Clean concrete – no steel, dirt or contaminants: $25 per tonne + GST
- Clean concrete with steel or reinforcing mesh – no dirt or contaminants: $45 per tonne + GST
- Dirty concrete – with excess dirt or contamination: $65 per tonne + GST
Keeping concrete as clean as possible before it leaves your site makes the recycling process easier and may also mean a lower tipping rate.
